Duchess Meghan Plans to Raise Son With American Traditions, Bring Him to L.A.

Doing it differently! Duchess Meghan broke some royal traditions during her pregnancy and will keep that up now that her son, Archie, has arrived.

“Meghan likes to do things her way,” a source tells Us Weekly exclusively in this week’s issue. “She’s a very strong woman who wants to use her role to modernize the monarchy, which is one of the reasons she and Harry decided to reject a title for Archie. [She and Prince Harry] want their son to lead a normal life.”

The insider added: “For Meghan, it’s just as important for Archie to learn about her family history as it is for him to learn about his royal ancestors, so she plans to go on a trip to L.A. with him once she’s comfortable taking him on a plane.”

The Duke, 34, and Duchess of Sussex, 37, welcomed their son earlier this month. “We are pleased to announce that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their firstborn child in the early morning on May 6th, 2019,” the royal pair announced on Instagram at the time. “Their Royal Highnesses’ son weighs 7lbs. 3oz. The duchess and baby are both healthy and well, and the couple thank members of the public for their shared excitement and support during this very special time in their lives.”

The Suits alum and her husband broke royal protocol by stepping out with Archie for the first time two days later in Windsor Castle, instead of on the hospital steps like Duchess Kate and Prince William did with Prince George, 5, Princess Charlotte, 4, and Prince Louis, 12 months.
