Brie Larson might be a member of the Marvel Universe, but she’s also very human. And while stuck in quarantine, she hasn’t necessarily been the best with keeping up with her workouts… that is, until now.

In a new video posted to her YouTube channel on Thursday, Larson bravely clued fans into her first training session with her Captain Marvel trainer, Jason Walsh. Her intention for the session was pretty simple: As she hadn’t trained since the beginning of the pandemic, Larson wanted to ease back into her fitness and take it easy with her body while still getting results.

“It’s been a while,” she tells Walsh on a Zoom call about what she’s hoping to gain from the virtual workout. “I want to take it easy on myself, be realistic about where I’m coming from, and enjoy it while my mind flips out.”

As the duo begin to go through a no-equipment routine consisting of movements that range from sumo stance squats to butterfly extensions to different variations of planks, it’s clear that for a woman who’s familiar with needing to be in shape for roles, she’s struggling to push through it.

“I can feel my mortality in a way that I haven’t in a while,” Larson comments to Walsh, sounding out-of-breath as she attempts to cool herself down before starting over again.

It’s kind of refreshing for a celebrity—especially one as famous as Larson—to be real about their fitness struggles. Like everyone else, it takes a while for her to get back into the swing of things. As the duo begin the cool-down period of the session, a sweaty Larson curls up into the fetal position because, let’s face it—she’s just finished her first workout and deserves to feel a bit tired. Even though she’s proud of herself for making it to the finish line, she’s not so sure everyone else will do the same.

“It’s unclear if anyone’s actually going to do this workout along with us or just enjoy watching me struggle,” she deadpans to Walsh. “If you liked it, if you didn’t like it—keep your comments to yourself.” But if you’re game to take on Larson’s beginner’s challenge for yourself, watch here for the full workout.
