Carly didn’t get those legs by accident, though. She previously told Women’s Health that running is a big part of her workouts. “I sometimes have to run on a treadmill because I won’t run in the cold,” she said. But Carly is huge on road running. “I feel like I run faster outside, and I like to get lost on the road,” she said.
Carly said her favorite running routes are usually greenways in whatever city she’s in. “In Nashville, I have one greenway by my house that I love so much,” she says. “One of my favorite things to do in a city is to go find whatever path is unique to the city.”
Carly told Garmin in 2020 that she prioritizes her health due to her family history. Her dad had a “massive” heart attack when she was a teenager, and there is heart disease and cancer in her family. “I feel better when I work out, I feel better when I eat right, and I feel like my mind is in a better spot,” she said. Carly also said she uses running “as meditation.”
“It’s become a lifestyle for me. It’s truly something I’m really passionate about,” Carly added. “Some people think it’s weird. I used to not be able to run to the mailbox. It’s very different now.”
But running isn’t ~all~ that Carly does. She previously told Runner’s World that she added strength training to her workout routine, and she tries to exercise five or six days a week. On strength training days, she’ll do things like an hour-long HIIT workout, followed by a short run. Her trainer Erin Oprea (who also works out with Carrie Underwood) likes to have her do a lot of leg work, core strengthening, and Tabatas.
Yeah, it shows!
