Mark Zuckerberg on his kids: ‘We don’t give them everything, they have responsibilities’

Mom Dr Priscilla Chan also talked about how they take their daughters Max and August to work to show them how their parents contribute.

One would normally assume kids with billionaire parents to be showered with every possible thing they desire. But looks like Mark Zuckerberg and wife Dr Priscilla Chan do not quite believe in this approach.

The couple revealed that they ensure their daughters, August, 2, and Maxima, 4, are aware of their responsibilities and are not spoiled. “Well, I think, first of all, we don’t give them everything. That’s an important piece, but they also just have responsibilities,” said the Facebook CEO while speaking at an interview with CBS This Morning’s Gayle King.

“They have chores,” said the dad. A while ago, he also shared a video of his daughters loading the dishwasher.

Mom Chan, on the other hand, talked about how they take their kids to work with them to show them how their parents contribute.

The doting parents recently celebrated Max’s fourth birthday and mentioned in a Facebook post how they started the Chan Zuckerberg initiative, a philanthropic organisation, by writing “a letter to Max from Mark and (Chan) about our hopes for the future”.

Chan, they said “wanted Max — along with children everywhere — to grow up in a better world. So, we wrote to her about our vision for the future and how we wanted to do our part.”
