Alec Baldwin brought all seven of his kids with wife Hilaria Baldwin on a walk in New York yesterday, and it seems like everyone has something to say about it. The Boss Baby star is drawing criticisms for so many ridiculous reasons, it’s hard to keep up!
“Gangs of New York…” the 65-year-old captioned a family photo on Instagram. He and Hilaria are posing with their kids: Carmen, 10, Rafael, 8, Leonardo, who turns 7 this month, Romeo, 5, Eduardo, who turns 3 this month, María, 2, and Ilaria, who turns 1 this month. (Alec is also dad to Ireland Baldwin, 27, with ex Kim Basinger.)

In the photo, Alec is holding two strollers — one that holds Ilaria and a double stroller that holds María and Eduardo. Carmen is wearing a crop top and shorts, paired with a purple hat and a purse, as she poses with two fingers held up. Rafael, Leonardo, and Romeo are standing among their siblings, and Hilaria is crouched down next to Eduardo. It’s chaotic — how could having seven kids not be chaotic?! — but otherwise seems like any family going on a walk. Except the parent-shamers came in hordes.

The Photo Sparked Backlash
One person was worried about Earth’s capacity for humans, as if Alec and Hilaria alone would push us over the limit. “Abso no regard for our planet capacity. Such narcissism,” one person wrote.
Another person was worried about Carmen’s outfit, writing, “Why the hell you letting your daughter wear that wtf ?” as if they were personally offended by a 10-year-old’s outfit of choice. She’s showing her stomach, but there’s nothing wrong with that! She’s on a family walk in the summertime, who cares?
Still others seemed to be judging the 30 Rock alum for how old he is. “Those are his grandkids right?” someone wrote. Uh, rude! Didn’t your parents teach you if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all? Seriously, treat this photo like you would to seeing the Baldwins in New York: politely look away and keep walking.

Well Wishers Defended the Baldwins
Others were supportive, though. “We had 8 children in our family!” one person wrote. “We were never bored and always had a wonderful time! Your children, making memories that will last a lifetime! Beautiful family!!!!”
Someone else said, “I LOVE seeing your big and beautiful family. I wish I would have been able to have had a big family. God blessed me with only one child.”
Some people even recognized how challenging it must be to get everyone out of the house together. “That’s fantastic. And brave,” one person wrote. Another said, “Gorgeous family. I’m sure it can get outrages at times. Being one of six. One things for certain, you will never be bored. ?????????.” I can barely take my three kids anywhere, so I can only imagine having more than double that number of children!

Trying to be Relatable
The Baldwins do their best to try to be relatable, but sometimes their efforts fall a little flat. Recently, Hilaria gave an interview with Romper about finding balance as a mom, without once mentioning her privilege with having so many people around to help.
“I balance time for myself while parenting by always remembering that I’m a person too” she said, while doing a yoga pose in high heels and pouring a glass of wine. It’s almost as if she’s mocking those of us who truly struggle with providing for our families and spending time with our kids.
In the same interview, she dished about her date night with Alec “every single night.” She explained, “That might be date night, just the two of us, at the kitchen table, or we’ll go out to dinner, but we always spend time together.” We wish we had nightly help so we could go out every single night?!
While the family walk may seem a little wild (they’ve gotta feel like their herding sheep with so many little kids!), it’s nothing to judge them for. At least they aren’t claiming to understand the struggles of all parents after going on one walk together, am I right?
