CrossFit Open Games stalwart Noah Ohlsen recently united with fellow CrossFitters and filmmakers the Buttery Bros (Heber Cannon and Marston Sawyers), for a full day of training. He shared everything that went down in his latest YouTube video. Fellow CrossFitters Jake Berman and Kyle Bernier were also in for the workout—and a special guest showed up for the second session of the day, too.
Ohlen noted that the first workout would include a grueling 150 wall balls (a.k.a. Karen) and 25 burpee ring muscleups. But that’s not all… after that, the guys will have a ‘pump sesh’ to finish the day.
“I’m not even nervous about the wall balls, which is unique for me because it’s not my favorite movement, but try to do those unbroken then make my way through those 25 burpee muscle ups and call it a day,” he said. For those who aren’t familiar with CrossFit lingo, “unbroken” means that he plans to finish all of the prescribed reps without taking a break.
The Buttery Bros were ready to take on the workout, even if they were coming into the facility after a long start to the day.
“Feeling like a spring chicken. Six a.m. flight today, you know?” said Sawyers. “Noah’s talking about going unbroken 150 wall balls straight… not gonna happen! It never even crossed my mind that people did that.”
The guys get to the workout and start with the wall balls. Ohlsen went at them with a vengeance, and knocks out all 150 reps in approximately 4:34. From there, he chalks up and hits the floor for his burpee, followed by his ring muscleup. He crushed the next 24, and clocks in at a final time of approximately 9:20. (And yes, he went unbroken.)
“Bravo, gentleman!” Ohlsen said after the entire crew finishes. “It’s a great get off the airplane, shake off the travel workout!”
After the workout, newly-retired five-time Fittest Man in the World, Mat Fraser, stopped by the gym to say hi.
“You’re getting huge!” said Fraser after hugging Cannon. After hearing that some of the crew managed to pull off the earlier workout unbroken, the CrossFit GOAT expressed his disbelief. “Dude I think even when I was at my fittest, I wouldn’t,” Fraser said.
After they chatted some more, the guys gear up for a follow-up pump sesh, which includes a tabata workout with strict pullups, then rounds of dumbbell bench press. And Fraser was in for this sesh.
“Just trying to get frickin’ jacked!” says Ohlsen.
“It’s going to be interesting! I haven’t started a clock in a little while, so we’ll see,” says Fraser.
They power through three rounds of each move.
“The pump is really real,” says Ohlsen.
