Bold, Graphic Eyes Rule at Giorgio Armani Pre-Fall 2020 Show

MILAN — “He was very precise, he told us exactly what he wanted,” said makeup artist Linda Cantello.
"He" is Giorgio Armani, who briefed Cantello ahead of the pre-fall 2020 show staged in Milan on Thursday with few, key indications.
“He wanted a very long eyebrow. Black shaped,” said Cantello, international makeup artist of the Giorgio Armani Beauty business — which is licensed to L’Oréal — about the statement eyes she created for the show.
In particular, the makeup artist’s intent was to create a harmony of contrasts between a bold, graphic line on the eyelids and eyebrows and more sensual-looking cheekbones and lips.
“For me, it’s a fusion of lots of things but it’s very simple. A kind of rectangular, Nineties eye, a bit smudged; very long eyebrow, which is a bit Thirties; the high blush, which is a bit Asian,” Cantello explained.
To achieve the result, she prepped the skin with Armani Prima Balm and perfected it by applying the Power Fabric and Designer Lift foundations before sculpting the face with the A-Line Contour product.
She then focused on the eyes drawing a straight, thick line on eyelids with a black crayon. To secure a long-lasting effect, she used dark pigments in powder to set the rectangular shape and to intensify the tone, slightly smudging the shape in the inner corner of the eye. Cantello replicated the move drawing an elongated, graphic line on the eyebrows, making sure not to deliver an arched shape.
To contrast these elements, she treated cheekbones and lips with a light touch, applying on both areas the Lip Maestro liquid lipstick in the 206 “Cedar” warm copper shade bowing from the Matte Nature collection of the line.
Curated by the Aldo Coppola agency, hairstyles at the show mirrored the duality offered by the makeup look, as the 65 models strutting down the catwalk sported two key styles. Some had their tresses left natural and loose while others had their manes in knots to accommodate wigs cut in graphic bobs.
