Abby Lee Miller Just Shared A Photo After Falling Out Of Her Wheelchair In A Crowded Airport

  • Abby Lee Miller shared on Instagram that she fell out of her wheelchair while traveling on Sunday at the Pittsburgh International Airport.
  • Abby said luckily “airport escorts” and “hot firemen” helped her back into her chair.
  • Abby has been in her wheelchair since she was diagnosed with Burkitt lymphoma in April 2018.

Abby Lee Miller has been so positive about using a wheelchair that it can be easy to forget the struggles that can come with it. But during a recent trip, Abby shared photos of a serious challenge she faced while traveling at the Pittsburgh International Airport (PGH).

“Help! ‘I’ve fallen and I can’t get up’ isn’t that the truth?” the Dance Moms star captioned a shot of herself sprawled out on the ground next to her wheelchair. “Let’s just say my transfer from the [aisle] chair to my own chair didn’t go so well!”

Abby said that transfer should have happened on “the bridge like usual and not in front of a hundred ppl waiting to board,” but unfortunately, it did—and Abby herself had to ask those around her to call for assistance.

Help! “I’ve fallen and I can’t get up” isn’t that the truth? Let’s just say my transfer from the Isle Chair to my own chair didn’t go so well! The move should’ve happened on the bridge like usual and not in front of a hundred ppl waiting to board, I shouldn’t have had to ask for someone to call the paramedics and maybe the @americanair Gate Mgr should’ve at the very least asked if I was ok? Thank you to all the Pgh international Airport Escorts that were so very kind & the hot firemen who swiftly got me on my feet, into my chair & on my way!!! . . . . . . @aldcstudiopgh #dancemoms #aldc #season8 #abbyleemiller #abbylee

“I shouldn’t have had to ask for someone to call the paramedics,” she said. Luckily, Abby got the help she needed to get back into her wheelchair. “Thank you to all the [PGH] international Airport Escorts that were so very kind & the hot firemen who swiftly got me on my feet, into my chair & on my way!!!”

Abby recently told E!’s Daily Pop that she relies on strangers to help her all the time. “I rely on other people every day of my life. Other people to get me ready, to grab something,” she said. Abby said that she’s generally found that strangers are super helpful. “These are perfect strangers but yet I rely on them, all the time,” she said. “It renews your faith in humankind and that people are genuinely nice and helpful.”

Abby’s been in a wheelchair since she was first diagnosed with Burkitt lymphoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer, back in April 2018. In an interview with PeopleNow in June, Abby said she was “paralyzed from my neck down” when she first developed symptoms.

Since her diagnosis, Abby has had two surgeries, several rounds of chemotherapy, and has been in a wheelchair. However, she’s learning to walk again, and she hopes to be out of her wheelchair by September after having knee replacement surgery. “I’ve had two different therapists say there’s no doubt,” Abby said, in reference to walking again.
