It was only recently that Prince Louis celebrated his second birthday in lockdown, and while the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are sitting happy with three beautiful children (Prince George, 6 and Princess Charlotte, 5), they have also opened up about family life and Kate Middleton’s pregnancy journey which was far from smooth sailing.
It’s been revealed that William and Kate were warned not to have any more children before announcing that they were expecting their third child. During a tour of Poland and Germany in the summer of 2017, Kate was reportedly given a baby toy whilst in Warsaw. As George and Charlotte were four and two at the time, she is believed to have turned to William and said: “We’ll just have to have more babies!”
But as has been reported, children’s organisation ‘Having Kids’, which promotes a “sustainable and child-centred family planning model”, instead urged the Duke and Duchess to reconsider expanding their family. In an open letter sent to the royal couple, Executive Director President Anne Green Carter Dillard wrote that “the example the British Royal Family sets is extremely influential,” adding: “Your discussion of having a larger family raises compelling issues of sustainability and equity. Large families are not sustainable.”

The letter continued by suggesting that while George and Charlotte are “certain to have wonderful lives…the same can’t be said of every future child.”
Quite the blow to an expectant mother, not least one who also holds the title of Duchess of Cambridge.
But, as they say, the rest was history and thankfully the Duchess of Cambridge didn’t dwell on the letter and its contents. Instead, just two months later in September of 2017, the couple shared the news that they were expecting their third child and Louis was born in April 2018.
Fans have since been speculating about whether there might be a fourth child on the way, but it seems the royal couple are now intent on keeping their brood to three. At a recent tour to Northern Ireland, someone shouted out to Kate: “Number four?” To which the Duchess replied, “I think William would be a little worried!”
