For Carrie Fisher's Birthday, Billie Lourd Sings in Honor of Her Mom

Get the Kleenex for this one.

Carrie Fisher would have been 63 on Oct. 21. Sadly, the actor and writer passed away of a heart attack on Dec. 27, 2016, after experiencing a medical emergency on a transatlantic flight. Tragically, Fisher’s mom, Debbie Reynolds, passed away the very next day — leaving Fisher’s daughter Billie Lourd without a mother and a grandmother in the span of 48 hours.

Lourd decided to mark the bittersweet occasion of her mom’s birthday by singing one of Fisher’s favorite songs — in one of her favorite places. She posted a video of the tribute on Instagram, and it’s utterly beautiful.

“Happy birthday Momby,” Lourd wrote. “Today would have been my Momby’s 63rd birthday. Not that I’m some kind of grief expert by any means, but on milestones (or whatever you want to call them) like this, I like to celebrate her by doing things that she loved to do. So here’s a little video of me singing one of her favorite songs (American girl by Tom petty) in one of her favorite places (her bathtub of course). I’ll probably have a pint of vanilla haggen daaz and a Coca Cola for dinner.”

Lourd, who stars in American Horror Story 1984, often posts about Fisher on Instagram. She posted these throwback pics earlier this year:
