So Scary! Why Shahs of Sunset’s MJ Was Placed in ICU After Giving Birth to Son

Battling for her baby. Mercedes “MJ” Javid was placed in the ICU after giving birth to her son, Shams, because of blood loss.

“During my delivery, I lost two thirds of my body’s blood supply, requiring 19 units of blood during the surgery, then [was] intubated and placed in ICU from having significant fluid in my lungs after my C-section,” the Shahs of Sunset star, 46, told Us Weekly exclusively on Tuesday, April 23.

Us confirmed that the reality star and her husband, Tommy Feight, welcomed their son on Wednesday, April 17.

“The night my son was born was the worst night of my life,” the new dad admitted in an Instagram video the next day. “My wife had a ton of complications. She was in surgery for, like, five hours. [The doctors] didn’t tell me nothing, but they’re amazing … They saved a life. She’s still in ICU. She still hasn’t held her baby yet, [but] that should probably happen later today.”

He added: “Everything’s great. I’m the happiest guy on Earth.”

The marketing director did post a picture of the mother-son pair on Thursday, April 18, writing a Game of Thrones-inspired caption. “Daenerys of the House Javid, the First of Her Name, The Cerclaged, Queen of the Spray Tans, the Shahs and the First Men, Queen of Beverly, Khaleesi of the Great Cedar Sinai, Protector of the Realm, Lady Regent of the Seven Shopping Centers, Breaker of Chains and Mother of Dragons,” he captioned the photo of Javid holding her baby boy. “#toughestbroadiknow #bendtheknee #myqueen #kookybroad #myson #GOT.”

“I’m feeling much better [since the delivery] and we had an amazing first weekend at home with Baby Shams Francis,” his wife told Us exclusively on Monday, April 22. “He’s such a great baby and I couldn’t be more in love with him… Tommy and I are truly blessed.”

Us broke the news in October 2018 that Feight and the Bravo personality were expecting their first child after their journey with in vitro fertilization.

“The truth is that I have a lot of ups and downs, moment to moment, especially on the hormones from IVF stuff,” Javid told Us in August 2018, three months before the pregnancy reveal. “You retain a lot of water. You feel really great one moment and then terrible another moment.”

She and her husband tied the knot in April 2018.
