This is why they are generally closer to the body in colder weather and farther away in warmer weather. Some people have “retractile testes.” This means the testicles retract (draw back) into the body along the inguinal canal. To help determine if this is normal or concerning, a health care provider can do a physical exam. The exam may include assessing your “cremasteric reflex” in which they may gently, and briefly rub your inner thigh with a gloved hand to see if it causes your testicles to retract.
